Full-Time Missionary Staff 2015
Steve and Cami Mather both graduated from Oregon State University in 1990 with degrees in Engineering and Education. They came to Romania in 2000 with their four young daughters Rachael, Sarah, Renee and McKenna, to work with children living in government orphanages. In 2005 they, along with Scott & Noemi DeWeerd, founded Stepping Forward Ministries and began work on Camp Living Water in 2006. Cami serves as the President of Stepping Forward Ministries and is the Ministry Director in Romania. Steve is responsible for the building and maintenance of the camp and coordinates logistics for fundraising, teams, and interns.
Ed and Connie Smith are from Minnesota. They moved to Romania in 2003 along with their three children Emily, Alyssa & Cameron. Originally serving with another mission, they joined the Stepping Forward Ministries team in 2013. Along with her work with abandoned children in Bucharest, Connie teaches 4th grade part-time at Bucharest Christian Academy. Ed works part-time in Bucharest as well, coaching and encouraging people in the business sector. Their three (now grown) children have served as ministry volunteers at the orphanages and at summer camps with Stepping Forward since 2007. Connie now serves as the Stepping Forward Ministries administrative coordinator.
Camilla Croxton grew up in Los Angeles as the daughter of British emigrants. She went on her first short-term missions trip to Bucharest in 2011 with Calvary Chapel Church. It was then that she knew God was calling her to full-time missionary work in Romania. She moved to Bucharest in 2012 to work with Roma children in the inner city. In the summer of 2013 God brought her to Camp Living Water where, just on the brink of leaving to take a job in London, she was called to stay and work definitively with Stepping Forward. She now serves as our Bucharest Ministry Coordinator.
Costi and Elizabeth Keenan along with their two daughters Ana and Jasmine, came to Romania full-time with Stepping Forward Ministries in the summer of 2013. Costi has been associated with Stepping Forward since 2006 when he was the speaker at our very first camp. Costi is Romanian and his wife Elizabeth is from Southern California. After they both attended Bible college in Hungary, Costi served as a youth pastor in Mississippi, Florida and California. They have been involved with short-term missions their entire married life, including serving at all our summer camps in 2012. Costi now serves as our Staff Pastor while Elizabeth helps out where she can as she is a full-time mom to three little girls (the youngest due in May)!
